The Senior Engagement Program at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden reaches out to seniors to continue or to re-engage their connection with the Zoo's mission, which is to "Inspire every visitor with wildlife every day". This objective is beneficial to both the seniors and the Zoo. This program reaches seniors residing in continuing care retirement communities as well as other long-term care facilities to provide the inspiration and engagement that contributes to life-long learning about nature and our environment. Zoo staff continues to create memorable experiences for seniors in all levels of care.
Seniors who have participated over the past years have embraced the opportunity to participate in new experiences that are interesting and informative, and the Zoo has the opportunity to strengthen their relationship with their donors as they customize programs to meet the interests and unique challenges that seniors face, including but not limited to Zoo access, crowds, location, and length of programs.
The Cambridge Charitable Foundation donors have supported the launch and successful development of a Cincinnati Zoo Senior Engagement Program.
